September Market Check: Fresh Phoenix Data, Weekly Markets, and Community Events Across the Valley

Happy Wednesday! Today is September 2, and fall is quietly arriving across the Valley. Fresh market data is out, and I want to share it with you, along with the weekly markets, festivals, and community events I am most excited about this month. Whether you are in the West Valley or the East Valley, there is something wonderful happening near you. Fresh Market Data as We Open September

One of the questions I hear most often is, "How is the market right now?" Here is the freshest picture I can give you, based on the latest Phoenix Metro housing market report covering 34 Valley cities. As of late August 2026, the median home price in Maricopa County, the heart of our metro, came in at $504,900, up about 1 percent compared to the same time last year. Homes are averaging about 73 days on market, which tells me buyers have real breathing room to compare homes, ask questions, and make thoughtful decisions.

Inventory overall is still on the lower side, so well-priced homes in great neighborhoods can still move quickly. The takeaway is this: we are in a steady, balanced market, and that is a wonderful time to make a move.

Weekly Farmers Markets to Add to Your Routine

One of my favorite parts of living here is the community market scene. These markets are where you feel the heart of a neighborhood.

In the West Valley, the Arrowhead Farmers Market at Arrowhead Towne Center in Glendale runs Saturdays from 8 to 11 a.m. in September, with over 100 vendors and food trucks. It moves to Dream City Church on 75th Avenue in early October. The Grand Market in Surprise runs Saturday mornings at 19753 N. Remington Dr., and A Community Affair Farmers Market in Surprise welcomes shoppers Sundays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 16600 W. Waddell Rd. The Desert West Night Market at Peoria Sports Complex continues Saturday nights through September.

In the East Valley, the Downtown Chandler Farmers Market at Dr. A. J. Chandler Park runs Saturdays 7 to 11 a.m. through September, and the Gilbert Farmers Market in downtown Gilbert is there Saturday mornings too. Downtown Mesa hosts its market Saturdays 8 a.m. to noon with live music and cooking demos, while the Eastmark Farmers Market in Mesa runs Saturdays year-round. And in Scottsdale, the Farm Artisan Market Old Town is open Saturdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Community Events Across the Valley This Month

There is so much to do in September, and I love seeing neighbors gather.

Start the month in the West Valley at First Friday @ Goodyear Ballpark on Friday, September 4, a free night market at 15461 W. Festival Way. Later in the month, the Fairytale After Dark Bookish Market returns to Goodyear on Saturday, September 19 from 5 to 10 p.m., and the Desert Fall Festival fills Surprise from September 25 to 27.

In the East Valley, Mesa Feastival brings the community together in downtown Mesa on Saturday, September 5. Scottsdale hosts the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at Salt River Fields that morning, and Riverdance comes to the Mesa Arts Center Ikeda Theater that evening. On Saturday, September 12, Chandler Contigo celebrates El Grito, a Viva Mexico! fiesta at Dr. A. J. Chandler Park.

Metro-wide, First Friday ArtWalk lights up downtown Phoenix on September 4, SabotenCon, Arizona's largest anime convention, runs September 4 through 7 at the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown, CaveScape is at the Arizona Science Center through September 15, and the Desert Botanical Garden's Garden After Dark continues through the end of the month.
